Effect of tube diameter on heat transfer coefficient of supercritical carbon dioxide.

Author(s) : DANG C., HIHARA E.

Summary

the heat transfer of supercritical carbon dioxide cooled in horizontal tube was investigated theoretically and experimentally. Characteristics of supercritical cooling heat transfer were discussed by numerical calculation, and film temperature was found adequate to be used as a reference temperature. Four copper circular tubes with inner diameters of 6, 4, 2 and 1 mm were tested. The correlation proposed for the 6 mm tube was found to fit the results of 4 mm tube well, but the measured heat transfer coefficients of 2 and 1 mm tubes showed smaller value compared to those of 4 and 6 mm tubes. Discussion on tube diameters is presented.
