EFFECTS OF GAMMA RADIATION WITH OR WITHOUT HOT WATER TREATMENT ON SHELF LIFE AND PHYSICAL AND SENSORY PROPERTIES OF MANGOES.

Author(s) : JOBIN M., et al.

Summary

NAHNG GLAHNG WAHN MANGOES WERE IRRADIATED (0.63 KILOGRAYS) IN THAILAND WITHOUT OR WITH HOT WATER TREATMENT PRIOR TO IRRADIATION, AND STORAGE. THIS TREATMENT WAS FOUND TO EXTEND THEIR SHELF-LIFE FOR RESPECTIVELY 5 AND 13 DAYS AS COMPARED TO AN UNIRRADIATED CONTROL. SENSORY DATA ALSO SHOWED BETTER ACCEPTABILITY AND PRESERVATION OF THE TASTE AFTER STORAGE OF THETREATED MANGOES AS COMPARED TO CONTROL FRUITS.
