Summary

COMPARATIVE TESTS WERE UNDERTAKEN ON A FROZEN-FOOD CABINET WITH AND WITHOUT A LIQUID-VAPOUR HEAT EXCHANGER, IN ORDER TO STUDY THE EFFECT OF SUCHDEVICES ON ENERGY CONSUMPTION. IT WAS FOUND THAT USE OF A LIQUID-VAPOUR HEAT EXCHANGER ENABLED THE MACHINE TO OPERATE AT A HIGHER BOILING PRESSURE (10 TO 12% HIGHER WHEN IT WAS RUNNING). AN INCREASE IN CONDENSATION PRESSURE WAS NOTED, AS WELL. AS FOR ENERGY CONSUMPTION, IT FELL 17.7% OVER A 24-HOUR PERIOD, OWING TO A 19.1% DECREASE IN RUNNING TIME. M. C.
