Summary

The paper presents the resultant efficiency and the crankshaft rotating speed fluctuation of a compact CO2 scroll compressor with a cooling capacity of 3043 kcal/h, calculated for its optimal performance. Calculated results were compared with those obtained with a R410A scroll compressor with the same cooling capacity: the compact CO2 scroll compressor exhibited superior dynamic characteristics involving a low vibration level, and high resultant efficiency; it competed well with the R410A scroll compressor with the same cooling capacity. The CO2 scroll compressor had better volumetric efficiency; mechanical and compression efficiencies were slightly better.
