Summary
Stable temperature and humidity of the indoor air are required in many fields, such as the electronic devices factory, laboratory, paint booth, and metal processing booth. But it is difficult to keep stable temperature and humidity of supply air using general air-conditioning system that is composed of blower, heating and cooling coil, and vaporizing humidifier.
The wet-air-conditioning system that has direct contact unit of air and water is effective to resolve this problem. This system has been found to be able to not only maintain stable temperature and humidity of supply air but also contribute to saving energy because of two reasons.
First, it is possible to reduce cooling heat because this system can provide evaporative cooling heat as a result of direct contact of supply air with chilled water. Estimated cooling energy reduction of this system is from 20% to 30%, while that of general system is about 10% throughout the year. This estimate was almost accurate in the operation of the actual office building.
Second, it is possible to reduce the hot water temperature because this system humidifies the supply-air before heating. By reducing the hot water temperature, it is possible to improve the efficiency of the heat source system.
