Summary

An enhanced thermoelectric refrigeration system with heat transportation using brine circuits was developed and refrigerators with this system were produced. In this system, high heat transfer performance between brine and the thermoelectric module achieves a higher COP compared with the conventional thermoelectric refrigeration system. The characteristic performance variations were calculated by numerical simulation, and the effects of brine and air flow rates, the current of thermoelectric modules and the number of manifolds on the cooling performance were clarified. Performances of a 40 liter refrigerator with this system were compared with the other conventional refrigerators. This refrigerator enabled noise reduction to 15 decibels and lower power consumption than the compressor refrigerator.
