Summary
In this thesis, it is shown that heat transfer in boiling of CFC refrigerants can be enhanced considerably by applying a perforated metal foil in close contact with a heated surface. The method is shown to be applicable both in pool boiling and in flow boiling. First, the literature on boiling is reviewed. Articles treating boiling from both macroscopic and microscopic view are treated. Enhanced boiling heat transfer is discussed in detail. Second, the experimental investigation is presented.
