Summary

NOTES A WAY OF IMPROVING COP BY COMBINING THE HEAT PUMP WITH ANOTHER HEAT RECOVERY SYSTEM WITH LOW INPUT ENERGY. USES THE EXAMPLE OF PLATE RECUPERATORS. NOTES HOW THE COP INCREASES TO GIVE A TOTAL ENERGY COST ABOUT HALF THE COST OF NATURAL GAS. AT AMBIENT TEMPERATURES OVER 273 K (0 DEG C) THE EFFICIENCY OF THE SYSTEM EXCEEDS 100%, AND THEREFORE PROVIDES EXTRA HEAT WHICH CAN BE USED TO COVER THE FABRIC LOSS OF THE BUILDING. NOTES THE USE OF THE SYSTEM TO PROVIDE SUMMER COOLING. (INT. BUILD. SERV. ABSTR., GB., 20, N 1, 1985, 7, 85-00065.
