Summary

In the supermarket trade, political, economic and technical developments have their influence. Customer expectations for product quality and standards in shopping atmosphere have risen. The legal requirements for hygiene in the food sector, construction and engineering as well as environmental protection have become stricter. It has been possible to raise the profitable efficiency of a European company through well-aimed organizational measures and through the purposeful employment and utilization of modern technology in buildings and operating equipment in conformity with the legal regulations. Examples of the Tengelmann Corporate Headquarters' innovative solutions are shown in the paper.
