The role of ammonia in the future.

Author(s) : LINDBORG A.

Summary

The paper highlights some important arguments for some of the common misconceptions about ammonia which occurs on earth as naturally as water. A risk of evaluation related to ammonia refrigeration system plants is presented. Firstly, the probability of danger, from incident to catastrophe, is discussed. Then the common causes that lead to ammonia vapour release and procedures which must be followed to avoid than an incident turns into a catastrophe are examined. Finally, it is concluded that knowledge is the best safety tool and that legislation on ammonia should be reevaluated in light of our present knowledge and industrial experience.
