THE CONVENTIONAL TECHNIQUE USED TO ESTIMATE MONTHLY AVERAGE FENESTRATION SOLAR GAIN IS SHOWN TO BE UNSATISFACTORY. AN ALTERNATIVE METHOD IS PUT FORWARD WHICH IS ANALOGOUS TO THE ASHRAE CLEAR DAY METHODOLOGY. THIS METHOD IS SIMPLER AND MORE REALISTIC FOR CALCULATIONS OF PASSIVE SOLAR GAIN SYSTEMS. D.W.H.
