Evaluation of thermal loads of a new cold store.
Evaluation des charges thermiques d'un nouvel entrepôt frigorifique.
Author(s) : RICHARD A. L., KOLAMOU G. P., CONTE I.
Summary
The heat load of cold rooms in a new cold store built in 2005 has been analysed, in order to evaluate its performances. To reach this goal, the authors proceeded by experimental determination of real heat load of air-cooled condensers and real refrigerating capacity of evaporators and compressors, from thermal measurements on the refrigerating units. The comparison of experimental data with the data of the project and heat balance shows that heat load of rooms with -18°C can be supplied by 3 refrigerating units, when the enterprise has implemented 5. The judicious use of intermittent operating (night/day) for energy saving is recommended in order to reduce the negative effects of this false size. Curves of average temperatures of the rooms, with very low variation around -18°C, enable this solution to be validated.
