Summary

After surveying the status of R&D in relation to heat pumps with natural working fluids, CRIEPI focused on a CO2 heat pump and started a basic study on it. The authors calculated the COP of the CO2 heat pump cycle for hot water supply and studied the characteristics of the cycle. They verified that the CO2 cycle had unique characteristics and achieved a higher COP than those of conventional working fluids.
