Evaporation heat transfer characteristics of carbon dioxide in a horizontal smooth tube.

Author(s) : YUN R., HWANG J. H., KIM Y. C., et al.

Summary

The test tube had an inner diameter of 6.00 mm, a wall thickness of 1.00 mm, and a length of 1.6 m. A direct heating method was used to supply heat to the refrigerant. Experiments were conducted at saturation temperatures of 5 and 10 °C, mass fluxes from 170 to 320 kg/m2s and heat fluxes from 10 to 20 kW/m2. The heat transfer characteristics of carbon dioxide are explained by introducing the dryout phenomenon using a liquid entrainment model.
