Summary

A straight coaxial test section was used. The refrigerant evaporates inside the inner tube and hot water flows inside the surrounding circular ring area. A significant reduction in the evaporative exchange coefficient was seen. A model was presented and validated, taking into account this decrease in the nucleate boiling region as well as in the convective evaporation region. Pressure drops were also evaluated.
