Summary

Plate heat exchangers (PHEs) have been applied to various industrial applications. The development of plate heat exchangers which generate steam is being required for the industrial purposes. Design and operating parameters affected significantly the performance of a PHE. This study investigated the evaporative heat transfer characteristics of the PHE with the operation parameters. The operating parameters in this experiment were the inlet water temperature, heat flux, and mass flux of the PHE. The experiment device of the plate heat exchanger was composed of two parts. The first was a cold temperature circulation part which provides cold water to the test section. The other was a high temperature circulation part which provided hot water to the test section. Lab-scale devices were utilized to establish the conditions of experiments and to consider the operation parameters. The heat transfer rate increased with the increase of the inlet temperature and heat flux.
