Summary
The article describes a series of experiments on a heat pump system with a CO2 transcritical cycle, using a specially built rig. The system demonstrates stability in operation and ease of control. Results from the experiments show that there exists a maximum coefficient of performance that depends on the evaporation temperature and outlet temperature of the gas cooler. The CO2 transcritical cycle is advantageous compared with those using conventional refrigerants, especially in higher temperature application fields. The article points out some measures designed to improve the system.
