Summary

A novel dehumidification heat pump with desiccant coated heat exchanger (DCHE) is structured in this paper. The heat of condensation from heat pump is used to regenerate DCHE during the regeneration process. At the same time, the cooling capacity can be employed to remove adsorption heat from the desiccant material, which can improve the dehumidification efficiency of the integrated system. Performance including moisture removal and COP of this novel dehumidification heat pump was tested experimentally. Results shows that the maximum and average moisture removal of the system are 8.68 g/ kg·DA and 5.04 g/ kg·DA, respectively, and the outlet air temperature can be as low as 25.8 oC under certain condition. With the increase of air volume, the average moisture removal of the system decreases while the COP increases, and the maximum COP reaches 4.20.
