Experimental investigation of propane boiling in porous structures.

Summary

The experimental results of propane pool boiling on surface with porous coatings are presented. Porous coatings were performed by electric arc gas-thermal spraying (stainless steel) or sintered of metal powder particles (copper). Heat transfer enhancement in the evaporators of vapour-dynamic thermosiphons and loop heat pipes charged with propane is discussed. Heat transfer enhancement up to 3-5 times was recorded with a heat transfer coefficient of up to 30-1000 W/(m2.K).
