Experimental study of convection heat transfer to supercritical carbon dioxide in a tube.

Author(s) : WEI D., MA Y., LI L., et al.

Summary

An experimental test rig with a horizontal pipe was built to study heat transfer when cooling supercritical CO2 gas. By analysing the abundant original data, the authors obtained the characteristics and laws of supercritical heat rejection. In addition, the effects of buoyancy on heat transfer are discussed, and the mechanisms of the cooling process are analysed in detail from a "varied thermophysical properties" viewpoint. Finally, the heat transfer correlation applicable to cooling of supercritical carbon dioxide was correlated; it fits the heat transfer data well.
