An experimental investigation of heat transfer characteristics during in-tube gas cooling process of carbon dioxide.

Summary

The test section for gas cooling of carbon dioxide consists of eight subsections connected in series, where each subsection is a tube-in-tube counterflow heat exchanger. In the study, heat transfer coefficients of carbon dioxide have been provided with respect to several mass fluxes and inlet pressures. The influence of the thermophysical properties and the flow conditions on the heat transfer characteristics has been investigated. The experimental results were compared with the existing correlations, which generally underpredicted the measured data. A new correlation was developed.
