Summary

Thermosiphon elevation solution tube is one of important parts of an absorption chiller. Its property determines the efficiency of the absorption refrigerating system. In the paper, several thermosiphon solution elevation tubes with lunate channel are specially designed and constructed. The solution heating and elevating performances of the tubes are measured. The results indicate that the elevated solution volume and distilled water yield increase with the driving temperature and solution submergence. With the suitable section area of the tubes, the net elevating height of solution is 1.9 times as high as the solution submergence, and the lunate channel tubes have several outstanding characteristics, such as low starting temperature, wide operating temperature range and lower requirement for vacuum condition. This shows that elevating capability of lunate elevating tubes is much better than others currently, and it provides well foundation for practical applications.
