Summary

THE THERMAL EXPANSION COEFFICIENTS IN SOLID ARGON HAVE BEEN MEASURED IN THE TEMPERATURE RANGE FROM 65 TO 82 K. BASED ON THE KNOWN THERMAL EXPANSION DATA MEASURED USING MACROSCOPIC AND X-RAY TECHNIQUES IN RARE GAS SOLIDS, THE VOLUME, ENTROPY AND ENTHALPY FOR VACANCY FORMATION HAVE BEEN CALCULATED. MAKING USE OF THE THERMAL EXPANSION DATA, THE THERMAL PROPERTIES OF SOLID ARGON IN THE PREMELTING REGION HAVE BEEN DETERMINED.
