Experiments and experiences with small vapor compression refrigeration plants with ammonia and miscible oil.

Summary

Laboratory tests under stationary conditions have been carried out for the range of -15 to 0 deg C evaporation temperatures with ammonia mass velocities ranging from 27 to 65 kg/m2.s and with oil contents of 0 to 3 % (weight/weight). The applicability of a set of empirical correlations for the calculation of the average heat transfer coefficient and for the pressure drop estimation for boiling inside smooth horizontal tubes has been checked by means of a simplified computational simulation program.
