Summary

This study investigated the condensation heat transfer coefficient and frictional pressure drop of a zeotropic ternary refrigerant mixture, R1123/R32/R1234yf, in a horizontal multiport tube. The measured heat transfer coefficient and frictional pressure drop were compared with those of the pure components, i.e., R32 and R1234yf, and the R1123/R32 mixture under the same experimental conditions. The heat transfer coefficient decreased with decreasing mass velocity and vapor quality. The heat transfer coefficient of R1123/R32/R1234yf was lower than those of the pure R32 and R1234yf and the R1123/R32 mixture. The difference in the heat transfer coefficients was remarkable at lower mass velocities. Under the same mass velocity and vapor quality conditions, the frictional pressure drop of R1123/R32/R1234yf was 0.9, 0.7, and 0.5 times lower than those of the R1123/R32 mixture, R32, and R1234yf, respectively.
