Feasibility study of district energy system with seasonal water-ice thermal storage.

Author(s) : TANAKA H., OKUMIYA M.

Summary

In the paper, performance of four types of district heating/cooling and district hot water system with natural and unused energy utilisation was examined by using system simulation. The index for evaluation was the COP of overall system based on primary energy. It was found that the system using river water as a heat source/sink of heat pump could decrease the energy consumption about 34% compared with reference system (water-cooled-chillers and gas fired boiler). Seasonal water storage and water-ice storage system which recover exhaust heat from space heating/cooling and district hot water in long term reduce about 24 and 21% respectively.
