Summary

The development of road and the decline of rail transport, in particular that for frozen food are reviewed and discussed. Improvements in warehousing and materials handling are still affected by dimensional problems of both packages and pallets. The change from frozen commodities to value added products and the rise of the price/club store in the 1980's are also mentioned. G.R.S.
