Summary

The development of the frozen food industry from its origins in the USA and Canada to Europe, Scandinavia and Japan is reviewed. The growth of frozen prepared foods such as Pizza, and improvements in processing and in particular packaging are also discussed. Quality Standards and the need for further research with the phase out of CFCs are emphasised. G.R.S.
