Summary

PROCEEDING FROM THE CURRENT PROBLEM OF ACCURACY, POSSIBLE METHODS FOR INVESTIGATION ARE UNDER DISCUSSION. THE ALTERATIONS DETECTED IN THE THERMAL BEHAVIOUR AFTER VIBRATIONS OR IMPACT THROUGH CONVENTIONAL PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS ON AIR-ADMITTED HEAT EXCHANGERS UNDER REPETITIVE OR COMPARABLE CONDITIONS ARE INSIGNIFICANT IN THIS EXAMPLE FROM A PRACTICAL POINT OF VIEW BUT NEED TO BE CONSIDERED IN NEW DEVELOPMENTS. THESE ALTERATIONS ARE ATTRIBUTED TO THE MICROSCOPIC STRENGTH BEHAVIOUR OF SURFACES IN THE MECHANICAL CONTACT BETWEEN FIN AND TUBE.
