Flow condensation heat transfer coefficients (HTCs) of pure refrigerants.

Author(s) : JUNG D., CHO Y., KIM S.

Summary

In the study, the flow condensation HTCs of a low-pressure refrigerant, R123, medium-pressure refrigerants R12, R134a and R142b, and high-pressure refrigerants R22, R32 and R125 were measured on a horizontal smooth copper tube at a condensation temperature of 40 °C with mass fluxes of 100, 200, and 300 kg/m2.s and heat fluxes of 7.3-7.7 kW/m2. From the measurements and correlation development, the following conclusions were drawn. Flow condensation HTCs increase as the quality and mass flux increase. Previous correlations predicted the present data satisfactorily with mean deviations of less than 20%, substantiating indirectly the reliability of the present data. A new correlation was developed by modifying Dobson and Chato's correlation.
