Flow vaporization of CO2 in microchannel tubes. 1. Experimental method and two-phase flow pattern.

Author(s) : PETTERSEN J.

Summary

The heat transfer coefficient and pressure gradient during flow vaporization of carbon dioxide were measured in an extruded microchannel tube with 25 flow channels with a diameter of 0.8 mm and a length of 0.5 m. Test principles are discussed and special emphasis is placed on measurement uncertainties, including the propagation of uncertainty through the regression, leading to uncertainty data for the internal heat transfer coefficient. Studies of two-phase flow patterns were conducted in a special test rig, using a 0.98 mm heated glass tube and high-speed digital camera. (See also this Bulletin, reference 2003-2203.)
