Type of article: Article

Summary

Food banks distributed 52,000 tonnes of food to charitable organizations in 1998. Chilled and frozen foods accounted for 20% of the total amount. Expiry dates are often very short, which means that these products have to be distributed fast and safely. This redistribution of food is covered by contracts and agreements between the partners involved.
