Fresh figs: they've been around for thousands of years.

La figue fraîche : un symbole multimillénaire.

Type of article: Article

Summary

The ancient Egyptians and Hebrews grew figs. Fig trees are typical Mediterranean fruit trees just like olive trees. Figs are grown in other geographical areas but most figs produced worldwide come from the Mediterranean basin. Fresh figs were eaten in the most ancient times and dried figs later made it possible to market figs worldwide. Formerly very low, the consumption of fresh figs is now expanding.
