Summary

THE PRESENT IMPORTANCE OF GAS-ENGINE HEAT PUMPS IN THE FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF GERMANY AND OF THE PRIMARY ENERGY SAVINGS THEY PROVIDE IS SHOWN. THE AMORTISATION OF PLANT AND THE ADVANTAGES OF SCREW COMPRESSORS IN THESE PUMPS ARE DISCUSSED. A FIRST EXAMPLE IS GIVEN WITH FIGURES, SHOWING THE ECONOMIC ADVANTAGES OF THIS TYPE OF PUMP USED IN PASTEURISATION AND THE HOT BOTTLING OF WINE AND THE HEATING OF ROOMS AND THE OPERATION OF THE PLANT IS DESCRIBED. ANOTHER EXAMPLE, WITH FIGURES, IS THAT OF THE USE OF SUCH A PLANT FOR HEATING BUILDINGS. REQUIREMENTS TO BE MET BY THE USER FOR OPTIMISING OPERATION. R.R.
