THE ARTICLE DESCRIBES PRESENT CONDITIONS, HEAT PUMP APPLICATIONS TO COMMERCIAL AIR CONDITIONING, HOT WATER PRODUCTION AND INDUSTRIAL HEATING. A NEWLY DEVELOPED ABSORBENT IS BEING TRIED OUT ON AN ABSORPTION HEAT PUMP. IT IS CLAIMED THAT BY ADDING A GIVEN QUANTITY OF ZINC CHLORIDE TO THE LITHIUM BROMIDE SOLUTION IT WILL NEVER CRYSTALLIZE, EVENT AT HIGH CONCENTRAI. FURTHER DEVELOPMENT WORK WILL BE CARRIED OUT ON OPTIMUM DESIGN BASED ON THE VARIOUS TYPES OF INDUSTRIES, THE PURPOSES OF APPLICATIONS, THE ENERGY CONSUMPTION PATTERN, COST PERFORMANCE AND SAVINGS IN MANPOWER WITH REGARD TO MAINTENANCE AND SYSTEM OPERATION.
