Summary

EXPERIMENTS CARRIED OUT ON A 250 TON (880 KILOW) R11 WATER CHILLER WITH SHELL AND TUBE CONDENSER HAVE ESTABLISHED THE EFFECT OF VARIOUS AMOUNTS OF NON-CONDENSIBLE GAS PRESENT IN THE CONDENSER. THE TESTS WERE MADE BY ADDING MEASURED VOLUMES OF NITROGEN AS THE NON-CONDENSIBLE. THE RESULTS SHOW THE INCREASE IN HEAT TRANSFER RESISTANCE AT DIFFERENT PERCENTAGES OF FULL LOAD. EFFECTS ON MOTOR POWER ARE ALSO PUBLISHED. D.W.H.
