Summary

AS COMPARED WITH HEATING UNITS, GAS-OPERATED DIFFUSION-ABSORPTION HEAT PUMPS ACHIEVE A 1/3 REDUCTION IN CONSUMPTION OF PRIMARY FOSSIL FUELS AND PRODUCE FEWER HARMFUL EMISSIONS. THEIR HERMETIC ASSEMBLIES WITH COUPLED AMMONIA-WATER AS THE WORKING ELEMENT AND HELIUM AS THE PRESSURE-BALANCING AUXILIARY GAS OPERATE WITHOUT MOVING PARTS, IE RELIABLY AND NOISELESSLY. AS THEY GENERATE NO CFCS THEY ARE ENVIRONMENTALLY SAFE, IN PARTICULAR AS REGARDS THEIR BENIGN EFFECTS ON OZONE DEPLETION AND THE < GREENHOUSE > PHENOMENON.
