A NEW NH3/H2 O COMPACT ABSORPTION HEAT PUMP UNIT IS DESCRIBED UNDER THE ASPECT OF ENERGY ECONOMY AND THE TECHNICAL/ECONOMICAL REQUIREMENTS INVOLVED ; ITS CONSTRUCTION IS DETAILED. THE PUMP'S RATED THERMAL POWER IS 1 MW AT A HEAT SOURCE TEMPERATURE OF 283 K (10 DEG C). IT WARMS WATER UP TO 343 K (70 DEG C). THE DRIVING ENERGY IS STEAM. THE EXPERIENCE GATHERED SO FAR IN THE IMPLEMENTATION AND INITIAL OPERATION OF THE PUMP UNIT AND OTHER PLANNED APPLICATIONS PROVIDE GENERAL INFORMATION ON THIS HEAT PUMP.
