Production mechanism of ice slurry on an oscillatory moving cooled wall.

Summary

The production mechanism of fine crystalline ice slurry on an oscillatory moving cooled plate has been investigated analytically for the purpose of the establishment of continuous production method of fine crystalline ice slurry. Ethylene glycol aqueous solution was adopted as the testing fluid. A vertical cooled plate with oscillation motion in a test vessel that was filled with testing fluid has been utilized. An analytical model for the adhesion of frozen layer to the cooled plate based on the surface energy was proposed. The effects of the surface properties of cooled plate such as contact angle on the production characteristics of ice slurry were extensively discussed.
