Geothermal energy in Denmark: geothermal plant in Thisted with absorption heat pump and 10 years successful injection of 15% saline water in sandstone reservoir.

Type of article: Periodical article

Summary

The article describes an installation that produces heat at sufficiently high temperatures, using a boiler-fed, water-lithium bromide absorption heat pump. The heat source feeding the evaporator of the absorption machine is lightly salinated water at 45 deg C, drawn at 1250 m below the surface. Problems of filtration, corrosion and reinjection were resolved. The entire unit was combined with a cogeneration installation. Performances and economic results are presented.
