Global analysis of adsorption cycles with thermal regeneration.

Author(s) : PONS M.

Summary

Adsorption cycles with thermal regeneration are described and analyzed. A cooling period is detailed: inversion of the temperature difference, globally isosteric cooling and cooling+adsorption+evaporation period. The two contributions to the COP of the system are highlighted: heat storage with thermal regeneration on one hand, adsorption cycle with an adsorber where temperature is never uniform on the other hand. The analysis of the process leads to the definition of two main characteristic parameters, having physical meaning. Strong correlations exist between these two parameters and the cooling COP. The full consistency between first and second law analysis is shown. The entropy productions in the process are analysed.
