Summary

Despite continuing scientific uncertainty, evidence that current fishing practices are unsustainable is mounting. Warnings about overfishing and the potential threat to food security among the poor are being taken increasingly seriously at the national and international levels. Recent years have seen a flurry of agreements to improve fisheries management.
