Summary

Heat pumps are only occasionally used in housing, business and public building projects. They are also little used for industrial purposes, although recent TNO/Novem studies proved their great potential in this field. There may be an economic reason that heat pumps are not frequently used in industry. Other reasons may be unfamiliarity and a relatively complex application. Novem is now planning to set up a new programme for the next few years to increase the knowledge and use of heat pumps.
