Summary

This paper presents a brief review of relatively important topics for advanced technologies of heat driven sorption refrigerating and air-conditioning cycle in Japan. The main topics are: high efficiency absorption cycles; triple-effect absorption systems; multistage cycles in adsorption; developments of adsorption chillers for better utilization of waste heat; new absorbent materials, two-stage dehumidification process; hybrid desiccant system with independent control of temperature and humidity; solar (and/or renewable energy) driven hybrid desiccant systems; solution transportation absorption chillers; load levelling and hyper energy converting and utilizing systems.
