Summary

HEAT STORAGE AND VARIOUS HEAT SOURCES FOR HEAT PUMP SYSTEMS OCCUPY AN IMPORTANT POSITION IN THE LOCAL ENERGY SOURCES PROGRAM OF THE SWEDISH COUNCIL FOR BUILDING RESEARCH (BFR). PROGRAM PLANNING, CALCULATION, FEASIBILITY STUDIES AND CURRENT EXPERIMENTAL WORK ALL INDICATE THAT THERE ARE GOOD TECHNICAL AND ECONOMIC PROSPECTS FOR HEATING BOTH EXISTING AND NEW BUILDING DEVELOPMENTS BY MEANS OF STORAGE AND ABSTRACTION OF HEAT IN AND FROM EARTH, ROCK AND WATER. A RECENTLY PUBLISHED REPORT (HEAT FROM EARTH, ROCK AND WATER, SWEDISH COUNCIL FOR BUILDING RESEARCH, PUBLICATION T1: 1981, IN SWEDISH), WHICH HAS BEEN PRODUCED IN CLOSE COOPERATION WITH BFR BY SEVERAL SWEDISH RESEARCH WORKERS ACTIVE IN THIS FIELD, PRESENTS AN OVERALL REVIEW OF CURRENT KNOWLEDGE AND A BRIEF INTRODUCTION TO VARIOUS PROBLEM AREAS.
