HEAT PUMP FOR DISTRICT HEATING OPERATING EXPERIENCES.

Author(s) : MADSEN K. E., AROEN A.

Summary

THE ELECTRICAL SUPPLY COMPANY OF OSLO IS DEVELOPING A DISTRICT HEATING SYSTEM FOR 2,500 FLATS. THE CENTRAL HEATING PLANT INCLUDES A 8-9 MW HEAT PUMP USING UNTREATED SEWAGE WATER AS THE HEAT SOURCE. IT WAS EXPECTED THAT UNTREATED SEWAGE WATER WOULD RAISE PROBLEMS BUT THEY DID NOT OCCUR. THIS MAY SHOW THAT WATER FILTRATION AND SPECIALLY BUILT EVAPORATORS OPERATED SATISFACTORILY. THE TEST PERIOD SHOWED THAT LARGE HEAT PUMPS SHOULD BE CONSIDERED AS HEAT PRODUCTION PROCESS PLANT AND THAT TIME AND TESTING ARE REQUIRED FOR OPTIMIZING THE PROCESS.
