NOTES THAT AN INCREASING NUMBER OF HEAT PUMPS ARE BEING INSTALLED IN HORTICULTURAL HOTHOUSES IN JAPAN BECAUSE THEY ARE MORE ENERGY-SAVING THAN CONVENTIONAL HOT WATER BOILERS AND SPACE HEATERS, THEY ARE MORE FIRE RESISTANT AND THEY CAN SATISFY VARIOUS REQUIREMENTS FOR TIMELY SHIPMENT ALONGWITH THE UPGRADING OF ITEMS BEING GROWN. LISTS EXAMPLES OF COMMERCIAL HOTHOUSES IN JAPAN USING HEAT PUMPS AND CONCENTRATES ON ONE PARTICULAR EXAMPLE GROWING CUCUMBERS.
