JAPAN IS A LEADING COUNTRY IN HEAT PUMP TECHNOLOGY. THE BROAD APPLICATION OF HEAT PUMPS DID HELP TO REDUCE THE JAPANESE ENERGY CONSUMPTION WITH 30% PER UNIT OF GROSS NATIONAL PRODUCT DURING THE LAST TEN YEARS. AN OVERVIEW IS GIVEN OVER THE HEAT PUMP DEVELOPMENT IN JAPAN AND THE PLANS FOR THE FUTURE.
