Summary

A new factory in the UK making injection moulded plastic parts uses a heat pump system. To cool the injection moulders, chilled water is circulated from a buffer tank. This is cooled by two 22.5 kilowatt water chillers. Condenser heat from the refrigeration systems is rejected to a water circuit feeding a plate heat exchanger where it is used to heat water for the factory air heating coils. Excess heat is rejected through an air blast cooler. Make up heat is supplied by a 350 kilowatt gas fired boiler. A constant flow valve and bypass are used to maintain condenser water flow. For every kilowatt of supply energy, 3.5 kilowatts are available for factory heating. D.W.H.
