HEAT TRANSFER ANALYSIS OF ANNULAR FLOW CONDENSATION INSIDE CIRCULAR AND SEMI-CIRCULAR HORIZONTAL TUBES.

Summary

THE PROBLEM WAS ANALYZED USING THE ANALOGY BETWEEN MOMENTUM AND HEAT TRANSFER. CONDENSATION INSIDE A SEMI-CIRCULAR TUBE REPRESENTS THE CASE OF CONDENSATION INSIDE A CIRCULAR TUBE WITH A TWISTED-TAPE INSERT HAVING AN INFINITE TWIST RATIO. THE ANALYSIS WAS USED IN DEVELOPING A DESIGN CORRELATION TO PREDICT LOCAL HEAT TRANSFER COEFFICIENTS FOR CONDENSATION INSIDE HORIZONTAL TUBES WITH TWISTED-TAPE INSERTS. COMPARISONS WERE MADE BETWEEN PREDICTIONS AND EXPERIMENTAL MEASUREMENTS REPORTED BY DIFFERENT INVESTIGATORS. THE DISAGREEMENT BETWEEN MEASUREMENTS AND PREDICTIONS WAS WITHIN + OR -30%.
